If your skin is not very elastic, you may experience pouching or drooping of the skin once the fat cells beneath have been removed. Your plastic surgeon should be able to make a good assessment of the elasticity of your skin and advise you on this point. In older people, the skin is usually less elastic, so it does not tighten so readily around the new shape. In this case, other procedures can be added to the liposuction, such as an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck).
